Bio

This is a site where you can see what is new on music, events and more by DANIEL DeGREE.

Hi, I am Horace Daniel DeGree, a music producer who goes by the name of DANIEL DeGREE. I have been a music producer since around 11 years old which started with a passion spawning from growing up musical. I grew up with music genres like Gospel, CCM, Hip Hop/CHH (Christian Hip Hop), Jazz/Smooth Jazz, Pop, Soul/Neo-Soul and R&B. At the age of three I fell in love with the drums just from listening to Gospel albums, seeing and hearing people play at church. I went around with my parents to different churches because my parents were singing with a well-respected worship team at the time in the late 90's and early 2000s. Along with all of that, I got my first drum kits for my birthday and Christmas started practicing. I also gravitated toward the more funky, melodic, soulful, and hard-hitting sounds of music that we were listing to. In my child mind, I did not know who all the producers were, all I knew was that the music sound so good, it stayed a memory from my childhood and an inspiration. Hearing the names down the line made me pay more attention to people like 9th Wonder, who's influence you here stick out the most in my music and DJ Premier, Pete Rock, J Dilla, Nottz and more. With that said, later down the line, I was even more drawn to make my own beats and knowing the fact that my dad had the SONIC ACID music software. I told him one day; I want to make beats and asked him if he could show me how to use SONIC ACID. He showed me how to use the software and record into the computer. I had a Yamaha DD-55 drum machine that my dad bought for my 10th birthday and used it to lay down the drums. There were samples that I had in mind from sample searching everyone's samples used in songs, so I grabbed them by analog recording and made beats. I then later asked my dad if he could get an AKAI MPC, but it was too much money, so we looked into getting the AKAI MPD 18. For 14th birthday, I came back home from middle school, and he had the AKAI MPD 18 and a demo version of FL Studio 9 on the computer. Seeing FL Studio 9 made me happy because I already heard about how 9th Wonder was using FL Studio and watching videos on how to use FL Studio. Right after that, I told him that I want to get the full FL Studio, which took a while for him to get, so until Christmas, I made beats on the demo version and analog recorded the beats in another software called Wave Lab. Next after that, for Christmas I finally got the full FL Studio 9 and was able to save my beats. My beats also got better as a listened more and paid attention to mixing and mastering while in middle school transitioning to high school. I showed my beats to students in middle school and got great attention; then graduating and moving on to high school, still making 10 and other numbers of beats a day. While in high school at the ages 16-17 I get my first placement with a local San Diego kids Christian Hip Hop group called Playground Preachers with a song called "So What". Then after graduating high school, I continue on to my 20s and get my first major placement with Jon Keith on two songs, "Verbal Abuse" and "That Way" which is on his "New Vibez" project. This led to me getting attention from Rapzilla, CHH rapper FLAME and then later moved on to me working with more people. The list continues with Gavin The HotRod, William Cata, a singer by the name of LUCIA, Mell The Realist, Zayy Truman and the list goes on. I also have many projects that I released and some still in the works.
